Judas and the Black Messiah

Published on 23 February 2021 at 21:28

I was waiting to watch this film since the trailer had dropped and it did not disappoint. Judas and the Black Messiah is the eye-opening true-life tale of the life and death of Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party. This truly amazing film directed by Shaka King outlines loyalty and betrayal like never before. Daniel Kaluuya’s depiction of Hampton is one of Oscar winning worthy – his performance was simply astonishing and encapsulating. He gets Hamptons ability to encapsulate a room with just his booming voice spot on. Lakeith Stansfield’s performance as ‘Wild Bill’ left you sympathetic yet completely filled with rage that this young man could betray those around him with such ease. This film is simply beautifully crafted so you are able to see all sides of the story and the manipulation at play from those in power. This film completely blew me away and I would recommend you watching The Trial of the Chicago 7 if you thoroughly enjoyed this.

If you've seen this, how did you find it?
