Riviera a 5-piece indie rock n roll band from Derby formed a little over a year ago. The band consists of front man Archie, lead guitarist Billy, rhythm guitarist Joe, drummer Danny and last but not least bass Omari.
A mixture of 90s Britpop and 70s/80s rock genre these lads have well and truly pulled it off and it sounds great. Let's be honest, during lockdown we were spoilt with bands releasing singles and covers, we lived for it! Riviera were amongst those, releasing a brand-new single in June of this year and let me just say I was absolutely buzzing for it! It was everything I was expecting if not better!
'Venezuela' is the latest release and third single from the band, the upbeat and in your face, tempo brings the song together, giving you that rock n roll feeling! The type of song that makes you want to jump up and sing at the top of your voice!
When speaking to front man Archie about ‘Venezuela’ and the meaning behind the song he went on to say, "I think the main message is to stop pussyfooting around doing stuff, it’s like get out and do it before you run out of time. Don’t talk about doing something and talk about being a big band, when you’re not yet and we want to be big, so that’s what we’ll do."
For such a young band these lads sound like they have years of experience behind them, from the lyrics, to the music. I for one, can't wait for them to get back into the studio, release new music and see them announcing gigs, like many music fans out there do!
